Israel’s Jewish and Arab Future Together: Visions of a Shared Society

During our Kabbalat Shabbat worship service, Mohammad Darawshe, Director of the Center for Equality and Shared Society at Givat Haviva Institute in Israel, will speak on “Beyond the Conflict: An Arab Israeli’s Vision for the Future.”
Following the service, you are invited to join us for a Shabbat Dinner and dialogue between Mohammad Darawshe and Dr. Ayala Hendin. Our distinguished speakers will discuss different models for a shared Jewish-Arab society in Israel, particularly in light of the current war and at the end of election week during a very divisive year. Mr. Darawshe and Dr. Hendin will conclude by imagining hope for Jewish-Arab relations in Israel.

Mohammad DarawsheDirector, Center for Equality & Shared Society, Givat Haviva Institute
Mohammad Darawshe is the Director of the Center for Equality and Shared Society at Givat Haviva Institute in Israel. He is also a Faculty Member at the Shalom Hartman Institute and he serves as an expert on national minorities at the European council in Strasbourg. Currently he is a Visiting Scholar at the Illinois Global Institute at The State University of Illinois and a leading peace activist in Israel.

Dr. Ayala HendinIsrael Fellow, Washington University in St. Louis
Dr. Ayala Hendin is an Israel fellow at Washington University in St. Louis, teaching Israeli politics, policy, and society, focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion policies; higher education policy; and activism in Israel. She was the founding director of “Israeli Hope in Academia,” a flagship national program of Israel’s 10th President, Reuven Rivlin. She completed her PhD at Ben-Gurion University and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Minerva Center for Human Rights at Hebrew University, and is passionate about connecting research, policy, and practice.
